How We Can Help You

Our work spans three core areas of construction cost and price consultancy, each focused on giving organisations the analytical foundation they need for more confident planning and decision-making.

International Cost & Price Comparison

We help organisations working across borders understand where construction costs and prices genuinely differ, and where apparent differences are driven by methodology rather than market reality.

  • International cost and price comparisons
  • Location factor and comparability analysis
  • Cross-country benchmarking frameworks
  • Advisory support on international construction price methodologies

Construction Cost & Price Intelligence

We analyse how construction costs and market prices change over time, build indices, track trends and model scenarios so organisations can plan for a range of outcomes rather than a single-point forecast.

  • Construction cost and price indices
  • Cost and price trend analysis
  • Scenario modelling (upside, downside, central cases)
  • Portfolio-level construction cost and price intelligence

Cost Modelling & Benchmarking

We build, review and pressure-test construction cost models, so clients know whether the numbers behind their decisions hold up. This covers first-principles cost build-ups from scratch, validating existing models and benchmarking cost structures against internal and external data.

  • First-principles cost build-ups
  • Cost model review and validation
  • Cost structure analysis and benchmarking
  • Development of cost databases and pricing frameworks

Our work is particularly valuable when organisations need to understand, reconcile or challenge construction cost and price information across different markets, datasets or project environments.

A combination most consultancies don’t offer

We integrate construction economics, statistical methodology and cost modelling in a way most consultancies do not. That combination of disciplines is rare. Most cost consultancies focus on cost modelling alone; most economists and statisticians don’t work at the level of practical cost build-ups and client delivery that this work requires.

Genuine first-hand experience in construction price and cost systems, not just theory

A background spanning cost modelling, benchmarking and statistical survey work

Direct involvement in international construction price frameworks, including ICP and Eurostat

Independent, with no ties to a particular methodology or supplier

About Upright Insight

Upright Insight is an independent construction cost and price consultancy. We combine construction economics, statistical methodology and cost modelling to provide specialist insight that supports better-informed planning, investment and decision-making.

Our work is grounded in direct, hands-on experience across construction cost and price indices, first-principles cost build-ups, benchmarking and international cost and price comparisons, including sustained engagement with major international price programmes and statistical frameworks.

We work with public and private sector organisations that need independent, specialist expertise to support capital programme planning, investment decisions and cost or price benchmarking.

Upright Insight is led by Aaron Wright FRICS, a construction cost and price specialist with over 20 years of experience in construction price analysis, benchmarking and international cost and price comparisons.
